Margaret Grissom

As a principal in Peake Consulting LLC, Ms. Grissom brings over 20 years of experience in economic development at the state, local and regional level. Her first-hand knowledge of public and public-private sector incentive opportunities provides her with creative, credible market intelligence to assist companies in incentive maximization. In that capacity, she developed numerous creative incentive solutions for U.S. and international companies locating in her areas. Ms. Grissom has assisted clients in automotive, consumer markets, and industrial products including Dana Corporation, Daimler Chrysler, Porsche, Magna Corporation, Kobe Steel Company, YUM! Brands Inc. and Stride Rite. She now conducts site selections, assists in incentives and contract negotiations for numerous industries and clients, including Aramark, Alkermes, Anchor Glass & Container and Lowe´┐Żs Home Improvement Company. Ms. Grissom obtains operational savings for various types of projects, through her negotiation skills, knowledge of business, experience in industrial park development, and strong relationships. She is nationally recognized as an expert on economic development issues and has written for and been quoted in publications such as the Journal of MultiState Taxation and Incentives.

Ms. Grissom also assists economic development organizations on organizational structure, operational policies, procedures and political issues, training and coaching. She has strong expertise in Japanese business and cultural practices and provides assistance to communities in the recruitment of Japanese companies. Using her experience in economic development, she brings in-depth knowledge of how organizations prosper and succeed in the 21st Century through the attraction of new business investment and retention of their existing business. Ms. Grissom started her own site selection/incentive negotiating and economic development consulting practice, Peake Consulting, LLC in 2003. In 2005 she combined resources with Betty McIntosh and is now a principal in Peake Consulting Consulting LLC. From 1998 to 2003, Ms. Grissom served as President & CEO of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Authority and subsequently used her organizational management and negotiating skills to bring an almost bankrupt organization to assets of $4.32 million. From 1989-1998, Ms. Grissom served as Vice President of the Greater Louisville Economic Development Partnership. From 1985 until 1989, Ms. Grissom was with the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development.

Ms. Grissom received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Louisville and is a Graduate of the Economic Development Institute, Norman, Oklahoma. She received her Certified Economic Developer designation in 1991 and has worked on US and international projects with a particular emphasis in the Midwest. She was Assistant Dean and Research Project Advisor at the Economic Development Institute where she taught various topics including discussion groups on incentive negotiation, site selection, community and economic development. She is an active member of the Industrial Asset Management Council and Kentucky Association for Economic Development and a board member of the Japan America Society of Kentucky since 1997. She also served as a board member of the Kentucky Workforce Investment Board from 1999 to 2003.
